Minbox is a handy Menu Bar application that allows you to send photos or files from your Mac directly via the Menu Bar. It claims to be "the fastest file-sharing app in the world" and while that may be stretching it a bit, it is very useful for sending photos and other files directly from your desktop.
Simple, free and easy to use
The interesting thing about Minbox is that there is no need to access your email account in your browser. Once Minbox is configured to use your email (such as a Gmail
account) you can simply drag and drop images into it. You can send files of any type or any size which makes Minbox ideal for sharing large files.
Just drag and drop files into your Menu Bar
You can drag as many files as you want into Minbox and simply add recipients. Minbox is completely free to use and has a few added bonus features such as delayed sending if you want to schedule emails. Minbox is particularly useful for photographers who need to send photos in the uncompressed, large RAW format which can be problematic via e-mail.
Fast and easy - once you have the access code
Minbox works very well generally but one issue you may have is having to wait for an Access Code. The code is needed to activate the service but you may find yourself having to wait some time before receiving it. Some users have reported this wait can be as much as a few days. However, once you have it, viewing photos in particular looks great thanks to the elegant way that Minbox presents them in a lightbox style format.
A fast and free way to share files
Minbox is a refreshingly fast and simple way to share files, including large ones, with friends.
